snapshot: contrasts

From my walk yesterday: this is at the top of Nakasero Hill, and is (according to Wikipedia) the under-construction Hilton Hotel.

The kids play with either a ball made of plastic wrap and banana fibers or with David's iPhone. Our modern faucet sometimes spits out red-muddy water (or no water at all - convenient the day you invite all your coworkers over for dinner). From our shiny four-story apartment building we look down from our window to a patch of maize and some goats.

This becomes normal surprisingly quickly.
